Spend 2 glorious weeks cycling around the world’s second largest alpine lake in a country not often visited by western tourists- Kyrgyzstan. On the way you will meet modern day Kyrgyz nomads and learn more about their culture! Sleep in yurts, portable felt tents used by nomads, and listen to children sing Kyrgyz folk songs and play traditional Kyrgyz instruments. You will even get to see how kymyz (fermented mare’s milk), Kyrgyzstan’s national drink, is made. This trip is guaranteed to be unique and unforgettable. Our bicycling trips are designed for those who do not insist on luxury, love the mountains, appreciate silence, and do not want to travel in large groups.
This tour is available from the beginning of May until the middle of October. Temperatures in the mountains can be quite low at the start and end of season so some warm clothes may be required. A raincoat/cape and hiking shoes/boots are strongly recommended. We also recommend to everybody that they bring their own hard-hat and fluorescent vest as they are not available here._____________________________________________________________________________________________ Level of difficulty – the tour passes through mountainous regions with frequent slopes and every now and then a stiff climb (usually graded as 3rd level). If you cycle frequently, are in good physical condition and are not scared of a short climb, then this trip is perfect for you. With the regular breaks and different activities available on this tour it is well within the scope of an experienced biker._____________________________________________________________________________________________ Accommodation – the tour takes you around Lake Issyk Kul, starting on the east shore. You will stay in hotels, guesthouses, with local families and in yurts._____________________________________________________________________________________________ Travelling in a group – this tour will have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 participants. The average cycling distance per day is 60 km, but there is one day of 92km on rather flat terrain. If necessary you can ride along in the car. Your luggage will be transported by car, accompanied by your interpreter who will be within reach during the whole trip.._____________________________________________________________________________________________ Rest days – we have planned sufficient rest days during the trip. During these days you will have the opportunity to explore the countryside or nearby towns and villages, and go for a hike or ride on horseback._____________________________________________________________________________________________ Bicycle – ideally you should bring your own bicycle. However bicycle rental is available. As many of the roads are often in a bad condition we advise you to bring a good mountain bike or a strong trekking bike._____________________________________________________________________________________________ For bookings of 4, or more, persons we offer a 5% discount._____________________________________________________________________________________________ Due to unforeseen circumstances, it might be necessary to make small changes in the programme. We ask for your understanding.
