Baku City Tour -Gobustan -Mud Volcano (60-70 km from Baku)

09:00 Breakfast at the hotel. 10.00 Trip to Mud volcanoes and Museum of rock paintings “Gobustan”. The mud volcanoes are unique natural phenomenon on the territory of Azerbaijan. Almost half of the mud volcanoes on our planet are in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is there for considered as a homeland of Mud volcanoes. Some of them are added to the UNESCO list as particularly protected natural monuments. The largest mud volcano in the Caucasus and in the world is Taragay at the height of 410 m located in the south of Gobustan. Gobustan (the territory of Gobu) is famous for its archeological monuments. Travel 30 miles southwest of Baku along the Caspian shore to the volcanic desert, where rocks covered with drawings stand amidst chaos of stones and mountains. There are more than 4,000 rock drawings left by artists of the Neolithic period. 13:00 Lunch time. Baku sightseeing tour. Baku-Shamakha – Sheki

09.00 Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out. 10.00 Departure to Sheki town. On the way to Sheki. 13:00 Lunch time. Visit to Diri Baba mausoleum in Maraza village. In Shamakha visit to historical mosque Juma (Friday), mausoleum of Yeddi Gumbez – (Seven Domes) – grave yard of Shirvan Shahs’. Continue trip to Sheki through Muganly Pass. Photo stops on the most beautiful places in the mountains. Arrival to Sheki. Overnight at the hotel

Sheki -Kish

09.00 Breakfast at the hotel. 10.00 Sheki sightseeing tour. Visit to the local medieval fortress, Sheki Khans’ palace, local museum of history, local handicrafts workshop, panoramic view of the town, mosque- madrassah, local bazaar. 13:00 Lunch time. Trip to village Kish near Sheki town -twenty minutes by bus. Visit to the first church in Caucasus 1 c. Overnight at the hotel in Sheki or in a local guest house in Kish.

Transfer to the border – Signaghi, Georgia – Tbilisi
Itinerary
09.00 Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Lagodeki At 12:00 meeting at Azerbaijan – Georgia border at Lagodekhi check-point. Visa procedures. Crossing the border and meeting with Georgian staff. Start tour in the eastern part of Georgia. Kakheti is the most famous wine district in Georgia. It lies to the east from Tbilisi and it’s a land dotted with fine old churches and vineyards. First, we arrive to the town Kvareli where we have delicious lunch for extra and also visit the winery to taste Georgian wines – as an option. We arrive in Signagi – a beautiful hill-town surrounded by Medieval wall and providing panoramic views of the Alazani Valley and the Eastern Caucasus Mountains. Drive to Tbilisi. Tbilisi City Tour
Itinerary
Visit to Mtatsminda (Holy Mountain) and the 4th century Narikala Fortress, with excellent views on the swirling river Mtkvari (Kura) and this city of so many ages and nationalities. Full-day city tour of Tbilisi with visits to the Old Town, Metekhi Temple, 12th c., the Abanotubani, Narikala (the main fortress of Tbilisi). Walking through some narrow streets, of along which some carpet and souvenir shops are situated. We will continue excursion in the old town. We visit the Sioni Cathedral 11th c. Anchiskhati Church 6th c. Visit Georgian National Museum (Closed on Mondays). Visit Rustaveli Avenue (the main street of Tbilisi). If cable train is operate, we will go to the Funicular for the views of the city. Breakfast included. Overnight in Tbilisi at the four stars hotel Ambasadori.

Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Kazbegi – Tbilisi
Itinerary
We start a day by driving to Mtskheta. Mtskheta is the ancient capital of Georgia that is situated 20km from Tbilisi. Historians date the town back to the 2nd millennium B.C. Mtskheta was the capital of Georgian Kingdom of Iberia between 500BC – 500AD. Here Georgians accepted Christianity in the beginning of the 4th century. The town and its architectural monuments are listed as the World’s Cultural Heritage sites by UNESCO. Visit to Jvari Monastery (6th c.) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th c.). Than we drive along the Georgian Military Highway, the historical road leading north into the Caucasian Mountains and then to Russia. It passes the spectacular Ananuri fortress (16th – 17th cc.), where we have excursion. We continue driving to Kazbegi by crossing the Jvari Pass (2395m) on the Greater Caucasus. (1700m). Drive back to Tbilisi. Note: Bringing walking shoes/boots are recommended to walk up on some steep slopes up to the Sameba church. It takes about an hour to reach the church from the end of the village Gergeti where you will be driven by our car. Please note, that our driver won’t drive you up to the Sameba church, as the road that goes up to the church is very damaged and the vehicle could have some problems afterwards. There are always local drivers with 4X4 cars in the main square of the town, if you prefer to take a car instead of a walk our guide can help you to hire one of the local cars for driving up to the church for about 70 Georgian Lari which is equal to about 45 USD.
