Khoten - Mt Mazatarg

Itinerary

Drive along the new Sand Highway until arriving at a place called Hong-Bai Shan.

Meet your camel crew and start to load camels. Then start your trekking toward west. In the early evening, you might arrive at the feet of Mt Muzatagh and find a good place for your first camp.

Distance today by trekking is about 10 km. Condition of the trekking trail today is flat.

Itinerary

Pass over Mt Mazatarg, trek northwards along the famous Khoten River where is very close to a place called Buksamaral. Distance in these 2 days is about 45 km.

Pass over Buksamaral.

Itinerary

Pass over the place called Buksamaral, turn to the West. You may suddenly realize many huge sand dunes appear into your eyes. Keep climbing. Camping for night. Distance today by walking is about 20 km.

Westwards.

Itinerary

Keep moving by walk Westwards between the huge sand dunes, close to the Oil Company’s Specialized Road. Camping for night. Distance today is about 18 km.

Itinerary

Keep moving toward west until reaching at another oil road which was built by a local oil company.
As soon as you meet your vehicle crew again, say hello to your camel crew and drive back to Khoten.
