Baku – Old City – Gobustan
Itinerary
10.00 Continue tour to Gobustan. Visiting of historic-art reserve Gobustan (65 km. from Baku). Acquaintance with the archaeological exposition of the museum, survey of inhabitants and acquaintance with the lifestyle of the people of an epoch of the “Stone Age” (7-8 thousand years B.C). Studying of the remained petroglyphic painting. Sightseeing tour in Baku – walking tour and acquaintance with the history and architecture of city (period XIX- XX c): Nizami street /shopping/,“Fountain Square”, Nizami Ganjavi monument, further Rasul-Zade street. Visiting of “National history Museum of Azerbaijan” 14.00 Baku sightseeing tour. Sightseeing in an “Old City” – medieval sight of Baku: “Shirvashakhs palace” (XV c. under UNESCO protection), ancient quarter mosques (Mohammad’s mosque- XI c.), bath, samples of residential buildings, “Market Square” and Caravan Saray “Bukhara” (XVI c.) and “Multani” (XIV c.),“Giz Galasi” (Maiden Tower – Entrance) – the oldest construction of Baku (under UNESCO protection). Visit to Memory Alley – “Shehidler Khiyabany”, panoramic view of Baku city from the park. Walk along the Boulevard and main streets of Baku. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Baku – Absheron Peninsula

09:00 Breakfast in the hotel. Bus trip to the Absheron peninsula about 4 hours. Visit to flaming mountain – “Yanardag”, Temple of Fire Worshippers’ – “Ateshgah”.The Baku Ateshgah was a pilgrimage and philosophical centers of fire worshipers from Multan (now located in Pakistan), who were involved in trade with the Caspian area via the famous “Grand Trunk Road”. The four holy elements of their belief were: ateshi (fire), badi (air), abi (water), and heki (earth). The temple ceased to be worshiped after 1883 with the installation of petroleum plants (industry) at Surakhany. The complex was turned into a museum in 1975. Visit of historical and ethnographical museum in the village Qala. 14:00 – 15:30 Lunch time. The Heydar Aliyev Center is a 619,000-square-foot building complex in Baku designed by Irani-British architect Zaha Hadid and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles. The center is named after Heydar Aliyev, the leader of Soviet-era Azerbaijan and president of Azerbaijan from October 1993 to October 2003. The Center houses a conference hall (auditorium), a gallery hall and a museum. The project is intended to play an integral role in the intellectual life of the city. Located close to the city center, the site plays a pivotal role in the redevelopment of Baku.

Baku – Shemakha – Gabala

09.00 Breakfast at the resort. Departure to Samakha. On the way to Shamakha visit to Diri Baba mausoleum in Maraza village. In Shamakha visit to historical mosque Juma (Friday), mausoleum of Yeddi Gumbez (Seven Domes) – grave yard of Shirvan Shahs’. 13:00 Lunch. 14:00 Transfer along the Muganly valley – Ismailly – Gabala. 15:00 Arrival in Gabala. Check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Gabala.

Gabala - Sheki

09.00 Breakfast at the hotel. 10.00 Excursion along Gabala. View of the waterfall Seven beauties, Nogur Lake and history museum of Gabala. On the mountain Yaloylu close to the village Nidj was founded an ancient settlement. There were founded golden, bronze and iron crafts, stone millstones, etc. In the village Nidj you can see historical people of Udis. This ethnical group is considered to be descendent of ancient Albans that could keep their traditions, spiritual and material culture till nowadays. 14.00 – 15.30 Lunch time 15:30 – 17:30 Arrival at Sheki and accommodation at hotel.

9:00 Breakfast in the hotel. 10:00 Sheki sightseeing tour. Visit to the local medieval fortress, Sheki Khans’ palace, local museum of history, local handicrafts workshop, panoramic view of the town, mosque-madrassah, local bazaar. 13:00 Lunch in local restaurant. 15:00 Trip to village Kish near Sheki town –twenty minutes by bus. Visit to the first church in Caucasus 1 c. 18:00 Return to Sheki. Overnight at the hotel. Free time.
