Tashkent, Uzbekistan

The capital and the largest city of Uzbekistan is considered off the beaten track destination for many travelers. Tashkent might be pictured as another godforsaken, dusty city in Central Asia. The truth is that Tashkent isn’t just another ordinary city; excluding it from dream destinations list is a big mistake for a traveler. As a part of the way of Great Silk Road, Tashkent was known and loved by many traders, because of its beautiful scenery and warm climate.

The capital of Uzbekistan has rich history, it goes back to 2nd century BC. Tashkent has gone through many changes due to several invasions throughout centuries. What’s fascinating about Tashkent is its unique. It’s comprised of Islam, Soviet, and Tsarist influence. National capital reveals itself as a rapidly growing city, with wide alleys and boulevards drowning in seas of green trees. The population of Tashkent is 2,5 million. Old, Soviet-like buildings blend in with modern, governmental constructions, and traditional Uzbek mud-walled houses.

The city has entertainments to please any traveler. There are so many things to do in Tashkent. You can go sight-seeing of ancient and modern monuments, or museums. Visit the Chorsu Bazaar. Uzbek Bazaars are must-see places if you want to truly to immerse in Uzbek culture. Bazaars like Chorsu and Alayksi spread throughout streets for miles in every direction. Crowded alleys are saturated with friendly tradesmen offering mouth-watering Uzbek cuisine. Special Uzbek textiles, jewelry, spices, knives, and films can be found there.

Uzbek bazaars are worth getting lost in them for a few hours. If shopping isn’t your thing, you can enjoy best examples of Uzbek architecture the Kulkedash Madrasa and Khast Imom. The Kulkedash Madrasa is the most emblematic Tashkent’s monument. Khast Imom is the religious center of Uzbekistan. The complex consists of mosque, library, madrassa, and schools. All of them are built according to traditions of Uzbek architecture. Even Tashkent metro is the most beautiful metro in Central Asia, where each station is carefully adorned y different architects and designers.

For all those party-lovers out there, there are some top-notch night clubs: Opera Nightclub, Casanova, Frigate, and K.T. Komba. All of these will let you experience Central Asian nightlife at its best. No doubt, there’s to many things Tashkent has to offer not to include it on your wish-list of destinations.
