Manas’ mausoleum is located just outside the city as well as a museum dedicated to the epic of Manas. Other popular destinations around Talas include an area with petroglyphs and caves paintings and the remains of some ancient settlements. To the south of the city, travelers can also visit Bash Tash Valley which houses Besh Tash National Park.
In the warmer months, many people from Talas go to jailoo (summer mountain pasture). It’s possible to see yurt camps set up as you go up into the mountains around Talas.
Travelers can reach Talas by way of Kazakhstan to the north or via the road through Otmok Pass that borders the Chuy and Talas Valleys.
