The village of Sary Mogol is located in the Alay Valley and provides a stunning view of the Chong Alay Mountains. This secluded little village is a breath of fresh air far from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Sary Mogol

Glacial and snowcapped scenery, nearby alpine lakes, delicious Kyrgyz cuisine, and even yak rides are all available in this village, giving travelers a unique taste of Kyrgyz life.

Sary Mogol is most well-known for being the starting point for climbers making their way up Lenin Peak.  Peak Lenin is considered the most accessible 7000+ meter peak in the world.  Climbers don’t need any special training to summit the peak.

Sary Mogol is located in the Pamir Mountains unlike most of the rest of Kyrgyzstan which resides in the Tien Shan Mountains.  The name “Pamir” originates from Farsi and means “roof of the world” because its peaks seem to pierce the sky.
