Built in 1975, the Kirov Reservoir covers an area of 39 square kilometers in the Chong Kapka Gorge which resides in the province of Talas. The reservoir has a depth of up to 7 meters and is used to irrigate the agricultural regions of Talas as well as regions in Kazakhstan
