Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum

Chashma-Ayub Mausoleum is located near the Mausoleum of Samanids, in the center of a small old cemetery near the ruins of old city walls of Bukhara. Preserved building was built by masters, which Amir Temur brought from Khorezm, that’s why its dome has rare in Bukhara Khorezm style conical shape. The first construction of the mausoleum dated 1208. Since then, the mausoleum was repeatedly reconstructed. New premises with small domes were attached to the basic construction and currently Chashma Ayub has a shape of an elongated prism and consists of a set of interconnected rooms of various shapes and sizes. The central part of the mausoleum, which was built in 1380 by order of Amir Temur, preserved to our days. From all campaigns Amir Temur had brought artisans and craftsmen. Thus in Bukhara masters from Khorezm had built a mausoleum over the wellspring of Job prophet. The building has partially collapsed, but the remaining buildings are a harmonious blend.

Now the mausoleum is a simple, not grandiose building almost without ornaments.
