Ever dreamt of crossing the whole country by cycling? Here is the chance to explore nomadic land from Talas, the capital of the most western province of Kyrgyzstan to Ak-Bulak on the east side of Lake Issyk – Kul. The route takes in 3 passes, (3,320m, 2,664m and 2,200m) cycling over deserted roads, some asphalt, some dirt. Available for groups of 4-6 members. En route you will stay with local families in villages, in tents (transported by car),guest houses or in yurt camps. Your bike must be solid and suitable for mountains. Finally, an English/German speaking interpreter will help you in any matter, and your luggage will be transported by car.
This tour is available from the beginning of May until the middle of October. Temperatures in the mountains can be quite low at the start and end of season so some warm clothes may be required. A raincoat/cape and hiking shoes/boots are strongly recommended. We also recommend to everybody that they bring their own hard-hat and fluorescent vest as they are not available here. _____________________________________________________________________________________________ Level of difficulty: This tour of nearly 1,000 km cycling has been created for very experienced riders in good physical condition. Along the way you will enjoy striking scenery and have the chance to visit nomads who live in the mountains during summer. The hospitality of the nomads is simply legendary. On rest days enjoy staying in our yurt camps where you have the opportunity to hike, take a swim or ride on horseback. The route starts in Talas, the capital of the most western province of Kyrgyzstan and ends in Ak-Bulak on the east side of Lake Issyk – Kul. You will cross the whole country and encounter a diversity of landscapes. Due to the bad condition of some of the tracks, your bicycle must be a solid mountain or tracking bike with wide tires and good springs.
