Hiking adventure in Azerbaijan

Arrival in Baku: After passing passport control meeting with tour guide or company representative in Baku International Airport and transfer to hotel. Check – in at the hotel. Overnight in Baku - - - Hotel

Breakfast at the hotel After the breakfast departure to Guba; Guba is one of the unique places in the World where lives lots of national minorities: Mountain Jew, Lezgins, Tat, Khinalig, Budug, Haput, Griz, Cek etc. Each of them has their own languages and tradition. But Azerbaijan
language unites them. All these villages locates on top of mountains, far from the civilization therefore till today these people keep their culture, tradition, language, life style etc. Guba is very attractive for all travelers because of its nature, people, kitchen etc. After arriving to Guba visiting Red Village – Mountain Jew village – the biggest Jew community out of Israel; this village is also called Jerusalem of Caucasus.

Driving to Elik village (30 minutes); the village locates on the shore of Elik River. Today here 300 people live in 50 houses.

Lunch at local family. After lunch making preparations and starting to hike to Haput village; Haput is also second biggest national minority in Guba region and they call themselves Herer. Here the people are engaged in sheep breeding and farming. As the winter is severe, most of the villagers take their flocks in October-November and migrate to the low land areas of Azerbaijan. 30-40 families remain in the village during winter months. By the end of the summer, the village is reviving.

Dinner at local family. Overnight in Haput village at local family (it is possible to sleep on the floor, if there are not enough beds at home).

Breakfast at the home; leaving the home After the breakfast departure to Khinalig village passing through ancient horse path – Khinalig is ancient Azerbaijan village on top of Grand Caucasus Mountains going back to Caucasus Albanian period. It is the highest settlement in Europe.

Lunch on the way with our reserve. Passing through the Haput – Khinalig Pass on 2500 meter from sea level; after arriving to Khinalig walking in the village; visiting museum, mosque. Dinner at local family Overnight in Khinalig village at local family.

Breakfast at the home; leaving the home Start hiking to Galakhudat village approximately 3 hours passing through historical Khinalig – Guba road; the village surrounded by several mountains like castle. Galaykhudat means “King Castle” (Gala – Castle, Khudat – King). After arriving to the village making lunch at local family; walking in the village.

Breakfast at the home; leaving the home After breakfast start hiking to Griz village through historical Khinalig – Guba road approximately 5 hours; there are several springs, waterfall and caves around the village. The village is highly popular with its fascinating waterfall near the village.
