TOUR PROGRAM:
The Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin – the religious capital of Armenia, and the administrative headquarters of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Pontifical Residence of the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of all Armenians. According to the legends, the site upon which the main Cathedral stands today is the place where Noah made the fire after the flood. It is the place where one of the earliest Christian churches was built. Today, it is located in the lower chamber, underneath the main Altar of the Cathedral.
Zvartnots, a complex of structures erected in the middle of the 7th century near Echmiadzin, is of extreme architectural value. Zvartnots collapsed as the result of an earthquake in 930 and was never restored.
