And your next destination is Bukhara, a city-museum with more than 140 architectural monuments of Middle Ages. The historical city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the numerous attractions that you will visit are a small mausoleum of Samanids, which recently celebrated its millennium, Kosh Madras, Kalon Minaret and architectural complex Poi Kalyan, they all were built about 2,300 years ago. Bukhara is also famous for minting and metalworking that are practiced here already for centuries.
In Samarkand you will see the magnificent architectural constructions of Timurid reign era. The cult place is Timur Bibi-Khanum Mosque, next to which is placed mausoleum of Tamerlane and his descendants Gur-Emir. Other interesting places to visit are the Municipal Museum of Art, the mausoleum of Ak-Saray, Namozgoh mosque, madrasa Ahror Khoja and Hazrat Khizr Mosque. Samarkand is also famous since ancient times for its fine handmade embroidery Suzane. Here you can also taste delicious red and white wine made from local grapes.
