The Silk Route (or Road) is a remaining piece of history was a connection of roads that tied together the countries of Asia, Europe, The Middle East, and Northern Africa. Starting a few thousand years ago, this road was to create trade and exchange throughout these countries, especially the trade of the beautiful and delicate product: silk.
Today, it’s a beautiful piece of history that holds interest and wonder for tourists. And, while there are many places that are worth stopping and seeing or doing along the Silk Route, this article outlines three specific ones to be sure to see or do if enjoying any of the countries along
the Silk Route.
The Terracotta Warriors/Horses Museum: This was one of the most important and amazing archeological discoveries of the 20th century, and it’s one of the great wonders of the world. Each figure is life size, and they are placed in a certain formation. Not only is the size of the figures astounding, but it’s the amount! Along with the soldiers, there are horses and other pottery works included. If traveling to China, this is one of the most important things to go and see! It’s located in Xi’an.
Go yurt camping: For those who are looking for a true Asian cultural experience, then camping in a yurt is an excellent choice. Yurts are animal skin covered, round, tent-like structures that are commonly used by more nomadic cultures such as in Mongolia. But, there are also opportunities to get the experience in the beautiful Uzbekistan landscape. What’s so wonderful about this part of the world is that there is seemingly unlimited attractions and sites and experiences to enjoy because of the varied geography, climate, people, and cultural richness. Any trip is worth doing along the Silk Route, but these three are definitely worth the experience!
