Culture feast and conversation in Georgia have a very important place in the national heritage. So we decided to propose you a full list of what to take care of during your trip to Georgia.
Since ancient times Georgians are famous for their hospitality, and today it is in no way diminished. If you get lost, you can not find a place to eat, or just want to know what to see in the neighbourhood, be sure to ask for advice from the locals. Georgians consider it their duty to render any assistance to the guests. And it is absolutely disinterested, and, of course, free.
One of the undoubted benefits of travelling in Georgia – the ability to communicate with the locals. If in Asia, for example, tourists can only smile and wave to local hand, it is much easier to find common ground and establish a strong friendship that within an hour you can be at the family table at your new friend. Most often, the common language is, of course, Russian.
If Georgians, whom you know only a couple of minutes, invite you for a visit, do not hesitate a minute – agree. No pitfalls to look not necessary, and do not be afraid that you are embroiled in some questionable business. For georgians a dinner is a holy cause, and they try to turn any meal into a feast. Those who at least once in their life participated in the Georgian feast with delight will tell others about it over and over again. And even constrained financial situation of the host will not be the reason for the modest lunch – feasts are in any home.
Georgians have great respect for their parents and older people in general – they always are devoted to the first toast, and given to the best seats at the table. Of course, this tradition is recommended to be respected by the guests as well.
Despite the fact that Georgians don’t have a set of special etiquette rules, some things should still be taken into account. Firstly, it is impossible to interrupt the toastmaster. Secondly, we must try to do everything the same way as the other – for example, take the herbs and bread from a common dish hands (a slice of bread usually helps keep the contents of the plates in order.
Following these simple rules will make your trip to Georgia even better than you plan it. And trust us, once in Georgia travelling starts feeling completely different, it’s one of the most hospitable country in the world!
