Let me share the recent great news, proving the Kyrgyzstan to become more popular and valuable tourist destination. Tourism in Kyrgyzstan has once again become a priority for Russian travelers. That was announced on 18 of November, 2015 at the ceremony of awarding the winners of National Geographic Traveler contest. Kyrgyzstan became a winner in the nomination “The Best Photo Tour Destination”. This honorable award was received by Aiymkan Kulukeeva, official representative of Kyrgyzstan Embassy in Russia.
Ms Kulukeeva expressed her assurance that Kyrgyzstan has won a deserved title, as her homeland is truly rich with tourist resources – emerald Issyk-Kul, celestial mountains, vast picturesque pastures with yurt camps, peaceful horses, sheep and mare’s milk, healthy clean drinking water and fresh air, permanently improving tourism infrastructure. The official lady has also informed that next year tourists will be able to travel to Issyk-Kul lake by plane from Bishkek and Kazakhstan, and winter travelers will be able to get to ski resorts by helicopter. So these are very good news for everybody planning to visit Kyrgyzstan.
The same outstanding achievement of Kyrgyzstan is known from last year, when this famous magazine has awarded Kyrgyzstan with the honorable title “The Best Wellness Holidays Country”. By that time National Geographic Traveler magazine had conducted this contest for the fourth time. First, the survey was conducted among tourism professionals, who helped to compile the list of nominees in 16 categories. Then data was published on the magazine’s website, so that the readers could vote for those considered the best. More than 230 thousand people took part in the voting and 80% of them have chosen Kyrgyzstan as the Best Wellness Holidays Country! The other candidates in this category were Israel and Vietnam. It is interesting that at the beginning Kyrgyzstan wasn’t among the candidates for voting. Then at one point Russian readers remembered about Kyrgyzstan themselves and began to ask, why there is no Kyrgyzstan as a candidate, and then the country was included in the list.
We should admit that Kyrgyzstan really has great opportunities for health improvement: Issyk-Kul lake with salty water, air and sand, healing mineral waters and mud, mare’s milk treatment, salty caves etc. And in the old days not without reason Kyrgyz health resorts were chosen for Soviet cosmonauts’ and VIP persons’ rehabilitation. These awards and travelers’ recognition should obviously motivate the improvement in tourism service and infrastructure of Kyrgyzstan.
So, everybody willing to verify the fidelity of these awards is welcome to this wonderful wellness country with great photography opportunities! Photos by: Vlad Ushakov, Sergey Kalachev
